Valentine's Day and Cookies!

Chocolate Sugar Cookies
Valentine's Day is coming in a couple of weeks, so we've started baking some of my favorite Cookies of the season. We are already shipping yummy Valentine Cookie Gifts for Birthday and other gift occasions, but most of the cookie orders will ship the week of February 10th. These chocolate sugar hearts are not to be missed this year. The chocolate sugar cookie dough is not too sweet and is mixed with butter, sugar and Belgian cocoa, so they taste divine. I love the contrast of the white icing on the chocolate sugar cookie and the red and pink colors just pop on these hearts.

Homemade Cookies for Valentine's Day
Mini sugar cookies are very popular lately. They are the perfect treat for those times you are looking for a bite or two of something sweet! Plus they are just plain cute. I definitely overuse the word "cute" but it's the first word to come to mind when I see these little sugar hearts piped in royal icing and topped with sparkling sanding sugar. We offer these hearts in bags of 12 cookies and they are packaged with our classic cookies such as chocolate chip, white chocolate cranberry ( oatmeal based and so good), double chocolate chip and snickerdoodles! If you're looking for a Valentine's Day Cookies gift for someone special, consider a gift box with homemade cookies. You can't go wrong.
sugared valentine heart cookies
{New} this year, are these mini ( cute, too) sugared hearts. We've baked the sugar cookies with a ruffled edge, frosted them with royal icing and dipped each cookie in a bright color of sanding sugar. I just love the bright new colors!  We decorate using classic valentine colors of red, pink and white sugars, but also blue, purple and orange. I can just imagine someone opening this gift box to find these colorful cookies inside! The 2 inch heart cookies are  perfect for sharing and there are 2 dozen in each gift box, so there are plenty to go around if you were sending to an office or family. Kids in particular, I think, would enjoy these Sugared Valentine Heart Cookies.

Valentine Cookie Gift Box
We love baking cookies for Valentine's Day, but the packaging can be just as much fun. This white gift box is stamped with a small heart and tied with red grosgrain valentine ribbons. We line each gift box with a valentine printed tissue paper and fill it with white or natural kraft shred. Each gift box is then wrapped in bubble wrap and packed in a sturdy shipping box for a perfect Valentine Cookie Delivery by February 14th!

Pretty Decorated Heart Cookies for Valentine's Day

We introduced beautiful new colors this year for some of our Decorated Heart Sugar Cookies in shades of sky blue, lavender, pretty pink and minty green. The orange reminds me of creamsicles.
                        Happy Valentine's Day!
Conversation Heart Cookies popular again this year for a cute Valentines Day Gift

We are finishing baking today for shipment of Valentine's Day Cookie orders. I loved the selection this year.Red & white designs with pink are classic Valentine but this year the new softer colors of blue, lavender, orange and green reminded me that spring is on it's way! It's been cold here in Pittsburgh lately and combine that with the Pittsburgh Steelers losing the Super Bowl , Spring will be an especially welcome event this year.

Valentine's Day Cookies make great gifts for Everyone

These may be my new favorites this year for Valentine's Day, Chocolate decorated Hearts. We bake our all natural sugar cookies, hand roll and cut out with heart cookie cutters. The cookies are baked in our convection oven, then hand decorated with homemade chocolate buttercream frosting and then detailed with royal icing and sprinkles. After they set up overnight, we package them and add them to a gift box ready to ship.Yes, they may be my new favorites. But then there are the adorable conversation heart cookies...

Valentine's Day Decorated Sugar Cookies

These mini sugar hearts are easy to make and decorate. We use a basic sugar cookie recipe posted below, but any sugar cookie recipe would work. Just roll the dough out using a small heart cookie cutter, bake and cool. To decorate, we used pink royal icing in a piping bag and added our decorations then sprinkled with pink sugars. Bite-size and perfect with a cup of coffee or tea.

                     Cut-Out Sugar Cookie Recipe

1/2 lb butter ( 2 sticks)           2 1/2 cups all -purpose Flour
1 cup sugar                            2 tsp. Baking Powder
1 whole egg                            1/2 tsp. Salt
2 tsp. Pure Vanilla

Cream softened butter and sugar together. Add egg and vanilla, cream well. Add dry ingredients and mix just until smooth dough, don't overbeat. That's it! Just roll out using flour on your rolling pin, use desired cookie cutter and bake in 350 degree oven approximately 8 minutes, just until slightly brown. Ovens are so variable, you'll have to watch them, be careful not to overbake as cookies will continue to bake after taken out of the oven. We take ours out when they are just starting to brown at the edges.

Comments: I love this recipe, it is so easy, no need to chill dough, rolls out so easily without sticking to the rolling pin. Be sure to use PURE vanilla, worth the added expense and always use BUTTER. If you like a crispier cookie, just bake a little longer.

Cookie Delivery for Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is my favorite season here at Country Cupboard Cookies. It's not that I'm so romantic or that I love the colors red and pink so much, but I really do like the simplicity of the holiday. Hearts, Hearts and Hearts. Red, pink, white. Sugar & Chocolate. After the crazy Christmas season around here, I'm in the need for simplicity. We've photographed some new items this year for Valentine's Day, I think they all look delicious, but my favorite are the new mini-hearts, buttery sugary cookies topped with pink, red and white icings. Like I said, simple. This photo is of our new Love Letters Box. The stack of cookies are really little envelopes sealed with a heart. It's hard to tell in this photo with the ribbon, but they are so cute.         Gourmet Valentine's Day cookie delivery

Cookie Art for Your Valentine
Creative and Delicious

These cookie art designs were done for us by our daughter, Lori Wittig. She now works in advertising in Dallas, so we miss her at the bakery, but she's still able to send us a few of her ideas when she has the time. These edible images are really works of art, and the buttery, sugar cookie piped with icings in pink and red makes them perfect gifts for Valentine's Day. They are available either alone as a collection or with freshly baked assorted cookies. http://www.countrycupboardcookies.com/

Valentine's Day Cookies for Delivery!

Valentine's Day is my favorite holiday at the bakery. I wish I could enjoy the Christmas season more, but it's so busy that all I can do is really concentrate on the details of the the orders. Valentine's Day however is a short season for us, maybe 2 weeks of preparation, then 1 week of shipping. The colors are simple, red & white, although we've added chocolate brown, gold and cream this year, and who doesn't love pink frosted sugary heart cookies? People and companies have "lists" at Christmas, at Valentine's Day there really are just special friends and loved ones to indulge. It's a great way to warm up the cold wintery season here in Pittsburgh, especially after this weeks ice and snow and slush. ( and even thunder one day, yes, it really did thunder in the middle of an ice storm. )
We have so many new yummy items this year for Valentine's Day to offer, I can't wait to start baking , the boxes are here and the ribbons are beautiful. I hope some people will try our new signature chocolate brown , cream & gold box of cookies shown here, it's a change from the red & white, but will also include pink hearts and assorted homestyle cookies such as super chocolate chunk, snickerdoodle, white chocolate macadamia nut and double chocolate cherry cookies. Visit our online store for more ideas and to order. http://www.countrycupboardcookies.com/ For now, I have to go get ready for the Super Bowl Game !!! Go Steelers!
